Three to die by hanging for kidnapping, murder

XTRATAINIC . . A  Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced three persons to death for kidnapping and murder. Two others were sent to life imprisonment. The death row inmates – Kingsley Chuku, Uchendu Elindam and Obinna Chuku; and the lifers – Godknows Wokem, and Promise Jim – had been arraigned by the Department of State Services. Justice James Omotosho on Wednesday discharged and acquitted four other suspects in the matter. The DSS had arrested the nine suspects in connection with the kidnap of a consultant with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Dr Alexander Akani, on June 29, 2017. The suspects were said to have collected over a million naira ransom before they were nabbed by the DSS. In the course of its investigation, the DSS found out that the suspects had in 2015 kidnapped and murdered one Deyspring Braide, a former administrator of the Asari-Toru Local Government Area. Four members of the COVID-19 Task Force have been attacked by Church members of Messiah Deliverance Salvation Ministry, located at No 15 Fenton Street, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State The incident occurred when the Task Force Team went to stop the Church service. Lagos govt identifies 119 people with symptoms of COVID-19 after searching 118,000 households

XTRATAINIC . . The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said a total of 119 people have been identified with symptoms of COVID-19 in the state. Prof. Akin Abayomi said the people were identified during the house-to-house search of infected people. Speaking at a media briefing in the state, Abayomi disclosed that a total of 118,000 households have been reached. He also stated that tests are being conducted to determine their status. “We’ve embarked on an active case search in communities. The idea is to go to hot spots and go from door to door with our health personnel. So far, in the last two days, we’ve visited 118,000 households and we’re looking for the typical symptoms of COVID-19. We’ve identified about 119 people who have the symptoms that are suggestive of COVID-19. “But let me remind you that COVID is one of the viruses that can cause respiratory symptoms. COVID-19: Lagos govt confirms 2 new COVID-19 cases as toll rises to 179

XTRATAINIC . . The Lagos State Government has confirmed two new cases of Coronavirus in the state. Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner of Health in the state made the confirmation via his Twitter handle, on Monday. Abayomi disclosed that the two new cases now bring the total number of those infected in the state to 179. He also affirmed that five patients who have fully recovered have been discharged. Abayomi said: “Lagos confirmed 2 new cases of COVID19 infection on 12th of April. ”Total COVID-19 Lagos confirmed cases are now 179. ”Five COVID-19 patients discharged following full recovery. ”The Total number of discharged #COVID19 patients are now 55. ”For a greater Lagos.” XTRATAINIC NEWS REPORT

Buhari extends COVID-19 lockdown, charges Nigerians to endure more

President Muhammadu Buhari Saturday implored Nigerians to comply with the government’s directive on movement restriction “once more” in order to defeat the COVID-19  pandemic that had infected 305 Nigerians in the last few weeks. The president in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, thanked Nigerians for their patience, resolve and strong determination to defeat the coronavirus. He also promised more interventions for vulnerable citizens in the country. Governors Oppose Death Penalty For Hate Speech

NAF Training Helicopter Crashes In Enugu

XTRATAINIC REPORT. . A Training helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force has crashed in Enugu State after returning from a routine exercise. According to NAF Twitter account on Friday, the crash occurred on Thursday. It said that although there were casualties, the cause of the incident was still sketchy and unknown. The tweet reads, “NAF helicopter suffers mishap upon landing in Enugu. “Helicopter has crashed on landing in Enugu after a routine flight today.
